Customer: Sun Water
The pump station consists of a reinforced concrete dry well approximately 8.0 metres in diameter and 30.0 metres in height. The pump station is subjected to the regular flooding of the Bowen River. Existing access to the pump station was via stairs, external to the well, to a water tight door near the top of the structure. From this point, operators travelled to alternative floors via internal stairs.
To improve operator access, a new water-tight submarine door was designed and installed at ground level. A new entry hole into the existing dry well structure was cut and part of the existing internal concrete floor removed to allow for the door itself, as well as new steel access. Handrail was also installed on the concrete pad external near the location of the submarine door.
